Lim's Obituary

Lim Bun Siong was born in Bangka Island, Sumatra, Indonesia in April, 1940.  He was the 17th (of 18) child of Lim Nam On and Lee Kang Soon (10 of his brothers were deceased in infancy).  Lim moved to Jakarta to attend university.  One day in 1967, Lim was cruising with his friends in a car and saw three pretty ladies walking down the street. They asked the young women if they would like a ride and that is how Lim met Lily, his wife of nearly 52 years.

Lim and Lily married in June, 1968.  In May, 1969, they welcomed their first baby, Lydia (Meity).  The following year, they moved to Hong Kong, where baby Lolyta (Lita) joined the family.   In 1971, the family moved to Singapore.

Lim was tiny, but mighty.  Naturally book-smart, street-smart, and charming, Lim achieved great business success early in life.  He enjoyed his fortunes by taking his young family traveling to Japan (where he bought prize koi fish), Taiwan, Macau, Philippines, Australia, and finally on the biggest vacation of all – to California in 1977.  Once there, Lim and Lily decided to stay.  They bought a home in Menlo Park, then Palo Alto, and finally settled in Atherton, California, where he built a treehouse in the redwoods for his girls and a large koi pond for himself. He created a home there for his daughters to cherish..

Lim and Lily returned to Singapore in 1989 for business and finally back to Jakarta to retire.  A few years later, Lim was baptized in the Catholic Church and given the Christian name Thomas.  In 2010, for his seventieth birthday year, Lim received the best present of his life – his granddaughter Ella Madeline Lucia.

Lim was a modern man, always stylish (outside of the home, he only wore slacks and proper shoes - never shorts, jeans, sneakers or flip-flops!), an avid reader of history and politics, and loved his classical music and kung-fu movies played loud! He loved big cities, animals (he had a German Shepard, a turtle, monkey, parrots, and koi), adventure, gardening, card games (especially in Las Vega$), and comedy - especially when he was being the comedian!

Lim’s big heart, smarts, sassiness, humor, and even his intolerable bossiness, will be forever and deeply missed by Lily, his daughters, his family and his friends.

Lim kecil, tapi perkasa.

Pearly Gates Joke

Dolly Parton and Queen Elizabeth at the Pearly Gates

Dolly Parton and Queen Elizabeth die on the same day and they both go before an Angel to find out if they'll be admitted to Heaven. Unfortunately, there's only one space left that day, so the angel must decide which of them gets in. The Angel asks Dolly if there's some particular reason why she
should get into Heaven.
Dolly takes off her top and says, 'Look at these, they're the most perfect breasts God ever created, and I'm sure the angels will be pleased to see them every day, for eternity.'
The Angel thanks Dolly, and asks Her Majesty the same question..
The Queen takes a bottle of Perrier out of her purse, shakes it up, and gargles. Then, she spits into a toilet and pulls the lever. The angel chuckles and says, 'Okay, Your Majesty, you may go in.'
Dolly is outraged and asks, 'What was that all about?   I show you two of God's own perfect creations and you turn me down. She spits into a commode and gets in! Would you explain that to me?'
'Sorry, Dolly,' says the angel, 'but, even in Heaven, a royal flush beats a pair - no matter how big they are.'
